6/18/06 So, we just spent the weekend recording the first tracks of the second album, "Blue Crush." We're hoping to have it done by the end of the summer, and on the shelves this fall. Those of you who already have DOTBD will notice the differences... we've upgraded our gear since the last CD, and man, does it sound good. The new CD will have 13 songs, most of which you've heard if you've come out to see us play, and we'll be putting some free tracks up on the website as we get them mixed and mastered. We'll keep you posted. We've been taking pictures as we go - you can find them in Gallery 7 at http://www.fireweed-music.com/photo.htm if you like. Since all the pictures are of us, you probably don't. - Kelley
5/6/06 It's taken a while, but we have finally taken the next step towards making a stand against major label market dominance: we have moved entirely to a "pay to play" model and deprecated our free downloads. We delayed this as long as we could, but at over 18,000 free downloads to date, we decided that undercutting our retailers probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. Check out our Listen page for links to our online download partners like iTunes, Yahoo Music and (gasp, choke) Walmart Music. All the money we make from online sales will fund our next album, great merchandise, and will help us expand our live show itinerary to include more shows along the West Coast and elsewhere. Thanks to all for your support! Long live Indie Music! - Kelley
9/10/05 Fireweed is going digital! Starting later this month, tracks from "Dreams of the Black Dog" will be available for download on iTunes, MP3.com, Napster and other pay-per-download web locations. At that time, we'll be replacing the downloadable music on our site with 60-second samples. We've been giving our music away for a couple of years, and people have listened - to date, Fireweed songs have been downloaded 8351 times from our site! We're taking this step with a certain feeling of regret... we hope you'll continue to support us as we move forward with our goal of becoming a touring band. - Kelley
9/8/05 We're now being distributed locally at Easy Street Records in West Seattle and Sonic Boom's Fremont location. We're working on being stocked at all Easy Street and Sonic Boom stores - that'll probably happen later this month. Please support your favorite band (that's us!) by buying a CD at one of our distributor's stores! Still only $9.99... - Kelley
7/8/05 "Dreams of the Black Dog" IS FINALLY HERE! Thanks, everybody, for your patience... You can buy it at CD Baby right now for $9.99. Of course, mailing list members will get theirs for $7.99 - e-mail us to find out how. We'll be having a CD release party soon, and you're all invited - we'll let you know when and where. - Kelley
6/21/05 So we have finally ordered our first run of the CD! "Dreams of the Black Dog" will be officially released in July, and will be available online at www.cdbaby.com and a variety of Seattle-area record stores, locations to be announced. We will be having the long-awaited CD release party sometime in late July or August, and damn, are we excited! We're also working on setting up some great gigs for the summer - make sure you're on the mailing list so you'll find out about them. You're gonna be seeing a lot more of us in the near future. - Kelley
12/1/04 Wow, it sure has been a long time since we've updated the site. But we haven't just been sitting around with our thumbs up our asses. First item: Fireweed has a new member - Rick Herrin is the new bass man for the band. You might know Rick from the Seattle American Music, or as the bassist for The Clevers. You can read more about Rick on the Band page. Item number two - at long last, Fireweed's CD 'Dreams Of The Black Dog' is finally being released in January 2005! You'll be able to buy it online at CD Baby, and at Fireweed's upcoming shows. We'll be having a CD release party in January, date and venue to be announced soon. Don't forget - mailing list members get $2.00 off the retail price, plus a free Fireweed sticker, so if you haven't signed up already, do it now! We'll be setting up some great shows this winter - check our Shows page for upcoming gigs. Thanks for your patience, everyone... we haven't forgotten about you. - Kelley
4/20/04 So you wanted a Fireweed baseball cap? Or a "Don't Fuck With Black Dog" lunchbox? We've got all that and more on our new online store! Shirts, hats, lunchboxes, stainless steel travel mugs, and more coming in short order. We decided to host the store at CafePress.com to make sure your transaction is as secure as possible, and to take advantage of their excellent reputation for customer service. Take a look around - and make sure you sign up for the mailing list because we'll be having periodic contests for mailing list members only in which you can win merchandise and CDs. - Kelley
4/10/04 The gig last night at the Hotwire Cafe was a lot of fun. The Victory Pills opened, and played a mix of originals and covers from bands like The Ronettes and The Pixies. Our photographer, Katt, took a lot of pictures, and we'll be posting some of the best ones on the site as soon as we get them back from the developers. (Thanks, Katt!) We'll be playing again at the Hotwire in late May, date to be decided. Thanks to all those who showed up last night... - Kelley
4/8/04 John and I are working hard to finalize the mixes for DOTBD, and we're going to be adding some updated mixes to the 'Listen' page over the weekend. We would love to hear what you think. The CD release is slated for late May or early June, and we'll be selling it on CD Baby initially, as well as Seattle record stores. You can also contact us directly to order your copy. By the way, mailing list members will receive a $2.00 discount on the retail price of the CD as well as receiving the Fireweed newsletter, coming later this month, show dates, and special offers. - Kelley
3/16/04 The audio is up on our site now... the MP3s and the streaming audio are 192Kb/s, although a few select songs are 320Kb/s. If you would like to have audio available in some other format, let us know. If enough people want a new format, we'll make it happen. - Kelley
3/14/04 The move is done. Thanks to Rich at hostbaby.com for helping us get the site up and running. We're in the process of moving our audio to the new site and putting together a song page where you'll be able to listen to streaming audio or, if you like, download 192 KB/s mp3s. We'll still be maintaining our acidplanet.com site, but look here first for new music, new shows and merchandise, coming soon! Want a baseball cap embroidered with the FW logo and our trademark black dog? So do we. - Kelley
3/7/04 We're moving our site to hostbaby.com to take advantage of their advanced features. The move will, among other things, allow us to host our own audio files. YEAH! We should be up and running sometime this coming week. - Kelley
2/29/04 We're hard at work on the album... we spent the day today laying guitar and vocal tracks for a new tune written by some friends of ours - more details later. We can tell you, though, that we're really happy with the way the session turned out, and we can't wait to get this CD released. We're hoping that we'll have the CD release party in May... we'll keep y'all posted. - Kelley
2/28/04 We locked in two new shows this week for your listening pleasure, April 9 at the Hotwire Online Cafe in Shoreline, and June 5 at the Galway Arms on the Ave. For more details about the gigs, check out the Shows page, yo. - Kelley
2/12/04 We decided to host our music at acidplanet.com after MP3.com disappeared, and discovering that IUMA is a ghost ship. The acidplanet.com site is way fast ,and so far, it's been completely reliable. You can listen to our tunes there by clicking on the Listen link. Enjoy... and if you like what you hear, please leave a review, which helps us to climb the charts. - Kelley
